Kurtis' passion for building and creating things started early in life while growing up on the family farm making and fixing all types of things. Eventually, this resulted in his career path and university education of choice. He graduated with a Structural Engineering degree in 1985 and then pursued jobs in Calgary and Winnipeg before establishing KNH Sawatzky & Associates as a sole practitioner in 1989.

It was primarily through word of mouth referrals that provided continual growth for KNH which soon required additional office space. Office locations moved from 130 Scott Street, 120 Fort Street and ultimately to the current 128 James Avenue location in the Cultural District in Downtown Winnipeg.

Kurtis has also owned and operated several land and real estate development companies with projects in Manitoba, Ontario, Alberta and New Brunswick. These include StoneBridge Development Corporation and Veritas Development Group Ltd. Collectively these companies have constructed literally thousands of residential units as well as the redevelopment of hundreds of acres of green field land into fully developed residential communities. Kurtis' passion for creating communities, buildings, and homes for people to use and enjoy continues.

Ever-changing technologies and energy efficiency opportunities continue to evolve and Kurtis is committed to staying up to date on these latest innovative design options in order to bring the very best overall value to his clients.

While not a work, Kurtis enjoys spending time with family and friends, at the cottage, traveling, church, walking their dog, watching sports and going to Jets games.
